A Time to Give Thanks

This month, people in our community will gather with loved ones for Thanksgiving, a time I look forward to every year. While I certainly enjoy the great food, watching football, and playing games with my family, the true spirit of the holiday is about celebrating the people, places, and things we are grateful for. This year, and every year, I would like to personally recognize all who contribute to Morgan County REA.

Electricity is such a constant in our lives that we rarely think about it until we are without. However, it takes a dedicated group of people with different skills and roles to keep power flowing to our members.

MCREA’s linemen are an integral part of that team as they work to maintain the system and fix problems as they arise. Whether they are building new power lines or working to restore power after a heavy storm, our linemen are dedicated to keeping the lights on.

Back at the office, each person plays an important role in helping our members. Altogether, MCREA is comprised of more than 40 employees, each with unique skill sets. While each department manages different functions of the cooperative, our employees all have the same goal–to provide our members with the best service possible.

I’m proud of the work our team does to serve our members and thank them for all of their efforts.

We also have a team of contractors that we work closely with to maintain our system. From line inspection to vegetation management, our contractors enhance the service we provide to our membership.

I thank the Morgan County REA Board of Directors, whose decisions help guide MCREA and uphold the cooperative principles.

I am grateful for all first responders, who MCREA works closely with when disaster strikes. These professionals constantly face adversity on the job and make our community safer each day.

And finally, I thank you, our members. Whether you’re coming to our community events or showing patience through tough outages, we appreciate your support of MCREA. This is your electric cooperative, and without you, we wouldn’t be where we are today. At Morgan County REA we are grateful and proud to power your lives. On behalf of your electric cooperative, we wish each of you and your loved ones a very happy Thanksgiving.
