Cheyenne County Jail (Old Cheyenne County Jail Museum) opened in 1894 and was recognized by the National Register of Historic Places in 1988. Designed by Denver architect Robert S. Roeschlaub — whose projects include East High School in Denver, the Isis Theatre in Aspen and the First Congregational Church of Manitou Springs, to name a few — the jail housed the area’s bad guys as well as the sheriff and his family.
