Earl Warren (1891-1974) served as California’s governor before being appointed to the U.S. Supreme Court where he served until 1969.
It was 1946 in Oakland, California, and I was dressed in my Boy Scout uniform, hitchhiking home from a scout outing in the mountains.
A limo picked me up and gave me a ride all the way home. I found out that I was riding with none other than the governor of California, Earl Warren, who later become a Supreme Court justice. He was a very nice person.
