I live 3 miles south of Idalia on a dryland and irrigated farm and run a cow-calf operation. I am 75 years old and spent my youth on the Brenner Farm. Graduated in 1968 from Idalia High School and married Diana Busby in 1970. In 1972 I graduated from CSU with a bachelor’s degree in Zoology and moved back to farm with my uncle. We raised 2 sons, Josh and Ross, that have families and farm in the Idalia-Armel area. We also have a daughter, Libby, and her family that live in Chadron, Nebraska where she is a principal at the elementary school. I am very blessed to have 7 grandchildren. I have served on the Wray-Idalia school board and the Idalia Visions Board. I am a volunteer on Idalia fire department and past EMT on Idalia Ambulance.

JONEAL YOUNG
(DISTRICT NO. 6 – THE THIRD COMMISSIONER DISTRICT OF WASHINGTON COUNTY, CO)

Joneal Young is running for his 15th term as a director for Y-W Electric. Having both graduated from Arickaree High School, Joneal and his wife, Rita, have lived in the Y-W area for 50-plus years.

Joneal worked at Y-W in Akron for two years, installing underground wiring to irrigation and stock wells and as a lineman in the Heart Strong area working with Dwaine Eastin. Then Joneal opted to return to the family farm to work with his parents, Birdsall and Darlene Young.

Joneal and Rita have two grown children. Lanee is a Math Professor at Fort Hays State University in Hays, Kansas. She is also involved in Agriculture, helping on the family farm here in Colorado. Chad and his wife, Christine, and family live on the farm where Joneal and Chad, with advice from Birdsall, work together to grow irrigated corn, dryland wheat, graze yearlings on the pasture land, and haul the crops and livestock to various destinations.

Joneal would like to thank the past and present Board members, the employees, and consumers for their support and the opportunity to serve the community in this capacity. Although he has seen many changes to Y-W over the years, Joneal is looking forward to the future of Y-W in the years ahead.
