The May Ranch of Lamar was selected for this year’s Colorado Leopold Conservation Award, which is partially sponsored by electric co-op power supplier Tri-State Generation and Transmission Association.
The May Ranch is owned and operated by the Dallas and Brenda May family of Prowers County. The conservation practices that the Mays have implemented on their cattle ranch have improved the wildlife habitat, water quality, and grass and soil health.
Recipients of this award, named for conservationist Aldo Leopold, are real-life examples of conservation-minded agriculture.
