2026 KC Electric Association Annual Report
You are cordially invited to K.C. Electric Association’s 80th Annual Meeting to be held on Thursday June 4 at Hi-Plains High School in Seibert. Doors open at 6 p.m. and the meeting begins at 6:30 p.m.
K.C. Electric is served by a nine-member board of directors which is elected by the membership. The board consists of five representatives from Kit Carson County, three representatives from Cheyenne County, and one representative from Lincoln County. Each year during our annual meeting, three directors are elected to serve a three-year term. For our regular election this year, the membership will elect one director from Cheyenne County and two directors from Kit Carson County.
If you plan to attend the annual meeting, you can cast your vote there, provided you have not already sent in a mail-in ballot. Once you have voted, whether by mail or in person, you will not get another chance to vote at the meeting.
Thanks to our dedicated and hardworking employees, K.C. Electric had another successful year both operationally and financially. Operating margins and total margins continue to remain solid, and in 2025, over $1.4 million in capital credits was paid out to K.C. member-owners through general and estate retirements.
At K.C. Electric, our mission is to provide safe, reliable service at the lowest cost, while maintaining an environmentally responsible, accountable, and sustainable operation now and in the future. Our annual meeting held each June plays an essential role in upholding that mission. During the meeting, we will discuss highlights from the past year as well as what the future may hold. We will also have an open forum for member questions and feedback.
Your voice matters, and your participation helps guide the future of our cooperative. In addition to the business meeting, we will recognize this year’s scholarship recipients and give away numerous prizes. Each K.C. Electric member in attendance will receive a $50 bill credit, and a $1,500 grand prize will be given to a member in attendance.
As usual we will be serving dessert at the conclusion of the meeting. Be sure to bring the whole family, this is a great opportunity for your children or grandchildren to learn the benefits of being a member-owner of an electric cooperative. We look forward to seeing you on June 4.
David Churchwell is the general manager of K.C. Electric Association, a rural electric distribution cooperative based in Hugo, Colorado.
